House and Travel Prep

House and Travel Prep players should register for Spring Program.

House and Travel Prep's current session has been extended to March 31st and players will begin the Spring Program in April. Register by March 1st to receive special spring program jerseys!

House and Travel Prep will resume in the fall.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTRO TO HOCKEY, HOUSE, AND TRAVEL PREP?

The Intro program is an introduction to hockey. It is the starting point for children of all ages who already know how to ice skate and are now wanting to play hockey.

The House program is an intermediate hockey program for children 9-17 years of age. House requires the player to show the ability to have complete control while skating forwards and backwards, confidence in their crossovers and be able to apply a controlled hockey stop.

The Travel Prep program is for players who were cut from the travel team tryouts and practice players for travel. It is also open to all players who did not tryout but have the advanced hockey skills that travel would require. The practices will be more like travel practices with the same expectations as if your player is on a travel team.

In addition to these programs, the SRJHC encourages the children to take advantage of Snoopy’s public skate sessions, as well as their skating program. Information on Snoopy’s Home Ice skating programs can be found here:

House

The SRJHC House program

The House program is an intermediate hockey program for children 9-17 years of age. House requires the player to show the ability to have complete control while skating forwards and backwards, confidence in their crossovers and be able to apply a controlled hockey stop. The program is designed to help your child grow as a hockey player and develop their skills so they can move on to a travel team if they would like. It is also for families who may not be ready for travel and just want to keep their child playing hockey on a weekly basis. We will continue to work with your child to better enhance their skating, stick handling, passing and shooting skills. The House program works on small area drills and incorporates the entire rink on many of our drills. Players will learn positioning, teamwork and the basic rules of the game so they can reach their personal goals. House is a great place for the player who loves the game and is ready and willing to learn.
